Human Design meets AI, a love-hate journey | Episode 179
Welcome to Human Design for Marketing podcast!
In today's episode, I am diving into topic that sparks both fascination and friction for many of us, that is, AI!
The arch-journey I went through (I am assuming I am not alone in this) with the initial excitement about AI, then the frustration and resistance aka friction in using AI - to then coming back to accepting the innovative side of AI with curiosity and 'play' (hello my Gate 3).
Now, as a sacral being focused on doing work that feels aligned and fulfilling, AI felt like the ultimate collaboration partner - at first - ie, cost-efficient, fast, and able to handle tasks that otherwise felt draining. It was a game-changer for speeding up processes and taking some of the grind out of running a small business.
But on the flip side, I noticed a disconnect. The copy produced didn’t feel like my voice, which is a cornerstone of my brand and authenticity. As someone who loves writing and crafting content, relying on AI for this took some of the joy out of my creative process.
Well, this is the tension / friction I am exploring today and I am certain many business owners can relate to this.
So let's find out how I have balanced things out and perhaps it will benefit you as spiritually attuned individuals to use AI in a way that honors your individuality while still reaping the benefits of this powerful tool - all in the spirit of co-creation and collective service.
Enjoy!

Hi, hi, welcome to the Human Design for Marketing podcast. I'm your host, yvette Mayer, and this show's for you if you're done with cookie cutter marketing and ready to build your personal brand in alignment with who you really are. I'm a marketing expert, human design nerd and intuitive business coach who's helped hundreds of women just like you to elevate their frequency and activate their most magnetic personal brand. Each week, we'll dive into practical tips, interviews, conversations and more to help you create an aligned business, a positive contribution and, of course, an abundant life. Let's dive in. Hello, it's Yvette here.
Speaker 1:Welcome back to the Human Design for Marketing podcast. I am thrilled to be in your ears once again, and this week we're going to be chatting about let's call it the intersection of human design and AI artificial intelligence. This has been something of let's call it a friction point in my own business and my feelings around this technology, and as I go through that process, I realized that I can't be the only one, and so I thought it was a good conversation to bring to the podcast. Hi again, hope you're all excited to learn more about my opinion of AI and human design, and I'm going to explore some of the resistance that I felt around AI and the let's call them cosmic realities that have me doing my best to get out of my own way and embrace AI more. So I want to go back to gosh, I want to say, about 18 months ago, which is when I started to use ChatGPT for the first time.
Speaker 1:Now, in the beginning, I was excited because, as a small business owner, you and I can both appreciate that it's a constant juggle, wearing all of the hats and particularly being very conscious of my own human design and that being that I am a sacral being, which many of you are as well that the goal is to be focused on work that is in my zone of genius, that fulfills me, that lights me up, and doing very little of the I was going to call it the grind, but the kind of work that feels draining Okay. So in that context, you can appreciate, I'm sure, that having AI in our world is very complementary, and not just for sacral types, but for all of us around being able to delegate or find a collaboration partner that is incredibly cost efficient and fast. And so in the beginning, that was really what I focused on, like curiosity, like what can I be doing to use AI in my business and I even went off and did a full day training on the benefit of using AI and learned some great insights around how to set up things like ChatGPT, so that you're really training the system to know you better and therefore to be able to support you in a way that feels really aligned and authentic in terms of how you express yourself with things like written content. So I started to dabble in it back then and I used it quite frequently, honestly, and I recall even around a year ago, I released my digital marketing success by design bundle and this was a download, a drop-in that I had as Gate 26 transited through the sun, which happens around the middle of December Might be the second week of December, it's coming up anyway, and I had this thought around okay, so this is a time when we have an opportunity to promote authors that we feel are ridiculously incredible value, that feel very in integrity with our work and with the transformation or the benefit available in our work. Now, look, honestly, this is important all of the time, but because this frequency was around and if you listen to me regularly, you know I follow the transits and use them as a signpost in my marketing all year round and I had this thought that you know what?
Speaker 1:I didn't at the time have anything low ticket anything under, say, $500 as a way of accessing my work, and I had started to really desire some more low ticket offers in my business. So I had this idea to package up some of the free content that I'd built in the process of building out my body of work in human design and to package or bundle it together and actually add some additional content to it to turn it into something of a mini course. And my sacral got so excited about this that it was like million miles an hour Idea landed over the weekend. Monday I was at my desk and I'd made the decision that I was not going to just create this product, but I would create the product. I would build out the sales page and the email sequence to follow that would welcome people in and explain more about how to get the most out of this course and create some marketing all within one day.
Speaker 1:Now, in this moment, I realized that the only way that I would be able to do that at such speed was to lean heavily on ChatGPT. So I went all in on this particular product around sales page copy, marketing copy, email copy with the help of ChatGPT. So I really started off the day from a perspective of teaching ChatGPT what I wanted and at the time we really needed to work in one particular thread of the system. So I used one thread for this entire process to continually reinforce what we were building together, and that's actually growing right now because I have some Black Friday offers out that include it, and so it continues to support my community at a very low price point. It's $55. And if you happen to listen to this in real time, there is 20% off in my Black Friday offer, which, by the way, the code is BFF20,. Just saying so. That was my first foray into genuine partnership with AI to help me create something faster, simpler, get it to market, do it in a time that suited the energetic frequency and it went really well Okay. So that's the good news.
Speaker 1:On the flip side, I will be honest and say I don't love the copy. I don't love the copy in the sales page or in the email sequences, because I didn't write it and it doesn't sound like me, and perhaps I haven't put enough effort into having AI do that for me at this point. But there's a reason for that and I want to be clear on this I love to write, and creating content is my jam. You know I'm a marketer through and through. Communication is something that I very much enjoy, and doing it in a way that feels authentic and true to me is very important to me, and so, even though I had this early success, I, since then, have actually pulled away quite a lot from using any form of AI in my business, and I think this is a quandary that is probably familiar to a lot of you.
Speaker 1:Listening to this, it's like we are such spiritually open and supported individuals you wouldn't be listening to this podcast if you didn't agree with that and once you're in the world of human design, you will appreciate that it's all about your unique brilliance, your voice, your tone, your personal brand and the energy that you bring Okay, and so we talk about science of differentiation, and you know every word. Pretty much that you're going to become associated with in human design is about individualism. It's about you being your distinctive, unique and original self, and that's where I have struggled. It's like, yes, we can use this technology to support our systems and processes and become more efficient and faster. All of that, and we should, and how do we do it in a way where it still allows us to have our uniqueness shine through? And I think this is an area that we're going to see become more and more challenging, because AI is getting better and better and better all of the time.
Speaker 1:And what I've noticed lately which is a little bit disconcerting, but I'll share this with you in full transparency is that now that Google has integrated AI as a way of navigating you from search, I'm finding there's a drop in my organic search visits to my website. So, to put that in layman's terms, when you go in and put a query into Google now, quite often the first thing, the first answer that Google is going to give you, takes you into their AI platform. Not into somebody's content, not into a blog post or an article or anything that's been created, potentially from an original perspective. It takes you into the AI system where a system-generated response is given to you. Now, in many instances, you're going to be happy with that and that's you done, and therefore you don't go and find the originator of that work. So that's going to affect those business owners potentially down the track, in that they have developed their own perspectives and body of work and now it's getting I want to use the word made vanilla, in that it's being crunched into or blended in with everybody else that does work. That is similar to present back an answer that everybody is served.
Speaker 1:That is a synthesis of all of the information available, and I can see both sides of this right Like I can see the positive in that. It's like when you have a particular query, maybe you don't want somebody's opinion or perspective. You would rather have a volume of processed information to give you an overarching perspective. I can see that value and as a business owner myself who's already seen some negative consequences of Google doing this, I can also see the risk that when you start to do this, and therefore the creators of this work, their sales go down, potentially because they're not having the traffic to their websites. Therefore their business becomes less or unsustainable and therefore they're not creating their unique content anymore. So there is a bit of a catch-22 going on in there and even though in the beginning I'm like there is not enough female written original thinking in the whole world wide web, and the more I can share my voice in this space, the better, because this is not my own wisdom. This is interpreted wisdom that is from ancient that word again synthesized ancient, mathematically mapped wisdom. This is a good thing, that it's a good thing for me.
Speaker 1:However, there have been moments when I have asked AI a question and it has come back sounding like me, and I've actually had a conversation to say is this what you've learnt from working with me or are you actually picking up my work in your process? Like? I get confused about this, sounds like I've written this. Are you speaking that way because I've trained you to, or are you actually picking up what I've put down and I get a little bit freaked out about it. It's like, wow, yeah, it's a thing. It's a thing, and I just wanted to share with you that I have felt this resistance and friction and tension around it, which leads me to now and something that has me looking at it differently and finding ways where I can not so much pioneer but experiment for the benefit of my community, because I am far from a laggard or somebody who wants to not operate at the highest potential as a business owner in service of others.
Speaker 1:So, with the big astrological event that has just happened and I'm no astrologer, but I think you'd have to be living under a rock, not to know that Pluto recently moved out of Capricorn and into Aquarius, and it's the first shift in this position in the astrological chart since 2007. And seeing all of the content coming towards me about this had me going down the rabbit holes and really figuring out what this really meant for us and, as somebody who's a marketer and a business owner like you are, there was a lot, a lot of application around what this will mean for how we run our businesses, moving forward and some of the potential in approaching things differently. And look, let's be fair, I am picking up what other people are putting down in this regard, and so it's likely that I'm coming across content that is aligned to my way of thinking or potentially that has found me, because the algorithms are really good at figuring us out. But I saw a lot of content around how we are moving into a more independent way of living and running our businesses, in that we've come from a highly governed, protected way in Capricorn where there were few people dominating in power and preventing corruption, true knowledge getting out there and having a more direct narrative, and what we're moving towards is more decentralised be that money, be that information, but actually being connected to more integrity in information and the ways that we work with larger governments, organisations and that sort of thing. And AI is actually a positive in all of this because it is making information more freely available and it's a more decentralised way of us accessing information and it also puts the power back into our hands that we can create from that more individual perspective. And, at the same time, pluto, being in Aquarius, very much has a spirit of what is good for the collective, not just for the individual. So there is a lot of heart and soul in this energy around collaboration, co-creation, that sort of thing, and so, again, ai really does fit into this co-creation space.
Speaker 1:So I've been sitting with this and not just about AI but all of the things and I felt big, deep shifts Gosh, this year has just been big, deep shifts all over the place and looking at AI in particular, I felt myself loosen the reins around this. It has to be done by me. I can't let go of the control of my own voice, and at this point I will say that I'm still going to resist using AI at scale for content creation. I don't want AI to be my copywriter If I am pressed for time and I, on occasion, do use AI for that purpose. That's okay, but I don't want to rely on Chachapit, claude, whatever. I don't want to rely on that.
Speaker 1:I want you to feel me, but I would also suggest to you that you think about this for yourself, from a perspective of your own design and what feels aligned for you. This comes back to your zones of genius, what you enjoy doing, what is aligned versus unaligned for your type. But there's so many aspects to this. But I'm not projecting, even though, yes, I have a line five. Actually, that means you project onto me more so but I'm not projecting here. I'm simply sharing the journey that I've been on with this and encouraging you to find your own way and to really connect into what feels good in your system. So what feels good for me is that I start to get more creative with how I use AI technology.
Speaker 1:So that could look like investing in building my own bot that helps serve my community with questions based on my own work. That could be something I look at. It definitely looks like uploading my methodologies into ChatGPT, which I've been doing to create things like prompts to help you get access to information. This isn't copywriting, but it's marketing specific ways of thinking, potentially around your target audience. That can serve you to get across lots of wisdom quite quickly and get you into new ways of thinking about things that may have taken a lot longer and not been at scale in the way you've done it in the past.
Speaker 1:If that sounds convoluted, let me wrap it up by saying I've come from a world in corporate where doing things around audience in particular were very expensive and time consuming, because for you to let's call it analyze enough people that fall into your target audience to make it meaningful, that would mean at least 100 people in something like a research group to give you feedback on something or to share their feelings and response and what something brings up for them right. So we now have the ability to work with AI that is accessing at scale large volumes of individual data to respond to things. That can save us a lot of time, energy, money and overthinking to get us to those answers, and I think, as time goes on, we're going to see more and more use cases around the more intelligence-based artificial intelligence but less for me anyway around replacing the way we do written communication, which is what it's been largely doing for a lot of people so far, and more into these more discrete, research-based challenges that we haven't had a soul for in the past. So if you're you and I, I don't know about you, but I resist getting onto multiple phone calls to try and talk to my audience about something. I resist that. It's like it feels quite heavy and hard title of something, or is this insight correct? Versus working with artificial intelligence, we can press through that process quite quickly and actually come up with more robust answers. So that's the kind of space that I'm feeling myself moving more towards in this AI world and it feels to me like it allows me to have more integrity and authority in my own approach, because it requires me to start the process. It requires me to have the initial idea and to construct it, and it's more in response versus creation. So something for you to think about as well.
Speaker 1:As I said earlier, none of this is wrong and it's here to stay. If you're not starting to work with AI now that you're conscious of you're already doing it, that you're unconscious of, it's around us everywhere. I mean I talk to Alexa. Alexa plays my music all day long. That is artificial intelligence. It's like permeated through everything we do, but when it comes to our businesses in particular.
Speaker 1:I wanted to address this because, as I said earlier, I really don't think I'm alone in this, like love-hate relationship that I have had myself and I'm on the journey. It's not to say it's over, but I am starting to open back up to okay, this isn't just about this one way of using it. Let's start to think more broadly and more innovatively. Gate three a bit of chaos in the beginning with ai and I'm moving into the innovation phase now. Hope you've enjoyed this short episode and I look forward to being back in your ears sometime soon.
