What are you designed to be famous for? Episode #203
What's the single most powerful lever for business growth in today's cluttered online landscape? It's becoming known for something specific - what I call being "famous for" your unique contribution.
When I started my coaching journey, being a generalist was enough to pay the bills. As the digital space became increasingly crowded, I pivoted from health coaching to business coaching, then to digital products, each time finding temporary success until the market saturated. By 2022, I hit what human design calls a "generator plateau" my business revenue declined, and I felt deeply disconnected from my work.
The breakthrough came when I strategically positioned myself at the intersection of human design and marketing. This wasn't just another niche; it was a perfect alignment of my three decades of marketing expertise, my passion for human design, and what I'm actually designed to embody as a 5/1 profile. The result? My business exploded, and I've never felt more authentic or lit up by my work.
Your "famous for" statement isn't about limiting yourself to a narrow box. Instead, it's about finding the beautiful fusion of how you're designed, what you've lived and learned, where you're most confident, and—crucially—what people actually want from you and will pay you for. This clarity becomes the foundation from which everything else in your business hangs.
Are you clear on what you're designed to be famous for? This question could be the key to taking your business to the next level. Subscribe and leave a review if this episode sparked something in you—I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Each week, we'll dive into practical tips, interviews, conversations and more to help you create an aligned business, a positive contribution and, of course, an abundant life. Let's dive in. Hello and welcome back to the Human Design for Marketing podcast.
Speaker 1:I'm very excited. I am coming to you today from beautiful Bali where I will be hosting a private client retreat from this afternoon. For the next couple of days, I have everything organized to perfection. She's going to have the most magical experience. She's going to have the most magical experience not just in terms of really anchoring into her big vision and purpose and all that is possible, but the strategic set up, actually building out her marketing plan and all of the things that go with that. And I am also talking about anchoring into the right mindset and being held in a space that is really expansive. We have so many adventures planned outside of the work side. I couldn't be more excited. So that's what's happening today, and it did provoke a topic within me that I wanted to bring to the podcast today, because there's something that I've really started to connect to in my own journey towards a seven-figure business and beyond, that it's really freaking clear to me has been the key to some of the quantum leaps that I've made, and therefore I know how important this is going to be for you and something for you to take away and be mindful not just mindful of actually create some change around and it's the topic of the biggest lever that I believe has contributed to my growth.
Speaker 1:But I want to get into the why. So what I'm going to be exploring with you today is what you are designed to be famous for. So, to take a step back, there is a very, very cluttered social media environment. If I circle back to when I first got into online business and launched as a coach, there was a lot more opportunity. I'm going to be real with you. There was a lot of open space, particularly pre-COVID, and then during COVID, things started to get, I want to say, more competitive, but there's just more people online now, and so things that were working five years ago they just don't work anymore were working five years ago. They just don't work anymore. And one of the things that has definitely shifted is that for you to truly stand out and create a big impact, you need to be known for something. So this is what I call you need to be famous for something, and I'm going to tell you this story through the lens of my own growth.
Speaker 1:So when I first started as a coach, I coached on any type of coaching with an audience in mind that was corporates, and that was because I had trained as a health coach. And when I first left corporate, I had no desire to do anything in the business or marketing realm. I was like get me out of there. That's what I did in corporate for 30 years. I want to be teaching yoga and coaching people on how to expand into their wealth not wealthiest, but, yes, that's important but their healthiest self. Maybe I would say well-being across every aspect, including answers, is a better way of putting it.
Speaker 1:And yet, as soon as I started marketing and showing up on LinkedIn as my chosen platform, given my audience, people came to me for other types of coaching. In fact, I did mostly life coaching mindset things like that and so whilst I was getting runs on the board and it was 2019 and there was a lot of opportunity, it was working I did realize and I got coaching myself that I didn't have a niche and that actually being a generalist is not the pathway to scalable success. So it worked to pay my bills, but it didn't set me up to scale, so I wasn't known for anything in particular and I went through a process of discovering what felt best for me. No-transcript big goals and dreams that wanted to make a positive contribution in the world with their business and marketing was actually the thing that lit me up the most. And, yes, I was already deep in my human design experience by then, and so I then did niche into business coaching, and that was a niche at the time. I landed in business coaching and my business took off, so I was known as a business and marketing coach. However, over the next couple of years, as the environment got more cluttered, that was no longer a niche. It's not a niche.
Speaker 1:Being known for something specific is very important in terms of your ability to scale and to stand out in a crowded market, and that started to become apparent, and so at that time, I had had a lot of experience in scaling my own impact through building out a mastermind and courses, and I realized that as I did that and my income started to grow, I had a lot more freedom because I was helping more people in things like a mastermind container than I was able to do in my one-on-one coaching, and that was lighting me up, and so I decided to deepen niche within business coaching around digital products, so helping others do what I had done and create more freedom through launching things like a mastermind themselves or a membership, a course, any type of digital product. And I got so excited about this being my thing, and I invested deeply into upskilling and expanding my knowledge, and I loved it. I absolutely loved it. I helped many, many humans go on this path, some of whom are still in my world today as clients, and yet, more time passed, it got harder and harder to stand out as the go-to in this area. Oh, my goodness, there are a lot of people out there that are focusing on this particular area, and also I expanded as a human. I got clearer on my purpose, my passion, the things that I really wanted to bring into my work, and it reached a tipping point in 2022 when I realised that what I was doing wasn't working anymore. My business revenue was going backward and I felt disconnected. I wasn't in love with what I was doing anymore. I didn't like how I was selling. It was all sorts of resistance and tension.
Speaker 1:Now, when this happens for you, it is a clear indicator that it's time to relook at what you're doing Now. As a generator myself, this can also look like what is called a generator plateau. It's like you follow what's lighting you up and you're so excited and you're doing all the things and it's working and yay, yay, yay, yay. And then it starts to feel off. So when you have a generator plateau, it is a sign that you either need to iterate and find the juice within that space to light you back up again, or it's actually time to accept that you have mastered the thing that you've been focusing on for long enough and it's actually time to step into a new lane.
Speaker 1:So for me, it was time to step into a new lane because I wanted to bring more of the energetics into my work Now on the back end. Hi, if you were in my mastermind at the time. You know that I was already doing this, but it was behind the scenes, so I was already sharing, you know, practices around not just mindset, but energetics tapping, bringing through human design, of course, as well, and those were the parts of my work that was actually bringing me more joy and thinking about business and marketing from this perspective of being embodied and being in the identity of a CEO of your business. So this is not how to build a digital product, and that's when I took a pause and decided to let go of the main product that I had been front end as my signature, which was Digital Product Academy. I actually had two products at the time. I had Digital Product Academy, which was a four module program to help you create a digital product, and then I had the Momentum Mastermind, which I had for many years, which was and then I had the Momentum Mastermind, which I had for many years, which was, yes, digital product focused, but much, much more about building a sustainable, scalable online business. Now, at the time, I let go of Digital Product Academy.
Speaker 1:I continued with my mastermind, but I brought more human design into it and, as I did that, I started fusing human design in marketing, and this is in like 2022. Now, as we stepped into 2023, that's when I got very clear that the thing I wanted to be known for and famous for was the fusion of human design and marketing. I didn't just feel, wow, this is the opportunity space, this is what I want to do in the future. Let's see how this unfolds. Instead, business brain me came into the mix and said if we're doing this, if we're doing this, we're going to do this properly. We are going to become we Royal Way. We're going to become known as a pioneer in this space. And so I built a strategy to set me up as a leader in an environment where there was less noise than there is just two short years later.
Speaker 1:If you Googled at the time, human design and marketing, there was very little coming up. There was a couple of people and I know Juliet Stapleton was one at the time who I had on the podcast a couple of years back because she had done this successfully around marketing by human design. And then, outside of Juliet, there were people that were doing a lot of other things, including a bit of marketing around human design. And then, outside of Juliet, there were people that were doing a lot of other things, including a bit of marketing around human design, but they weren't positioned to be known, that this was their thing, and, with that wide open space I'm like right now is when I step in and I build my entire profile around this.
Speaker 1:I knew that this is what I wanted to be known for. This is what I wanted to be famous for, and so, strategically, ever since then since the beginning of 2023, so it's two and a half years I have delivered on strategically and energetically, at every step of the way, this as what I'm here to be famous for, and it feels epic. I still feel like I'm at the very beginning and you know what? My business has exploded because I am fully aligned. I am the most authentic human I've ever been as a business owner and leader, and every single day, the work I do lights me up like never before, and that's why it works. So it's this beautiful complement of my lived skills, my passion, my purpose and what I'm actually designed for. My purpose and what I'm actually designed for. It's all of those things.
Speaker 1:Now, as I built my latest program, sold Out Offers by Design, even though it's an offer-centric program, even though it's all about saleable offers, and so it does have a lot of inbuilt or inherent magic. From my last iteration it really does. However, it's bringing in the principles of alignment and human design as front and center and as I built this out, I knew based on what I've just talked you through that the first thing and the priority in the program was connecting into this for my students and clients Like, what are you here to be famous for? Because I don't believe you can, just at this age in 2025, randomly create a bunch of offers and it will work for you to ultimately step into the greater leadership and legacy that I know you desire. It won't work. You will not stand out without knowing what you're here to be famous for.
Speaker 1:Now, this is not a niche. You can be famous for being somebody that is multi-passionate and able to connect all the dots, like if you're a manifesting generator and you're listening to this. I am not saying you need to live in a box. I am saying you need to be known for your unique expression. This is important. This is what is going to propel you to the next level.
Speaker 1:So, in Sold Out Offers by Design, the very first thing we do is we look at a lot of the things I've just talked about your lived learnt expression, combined with what you're actually built to be famous for from a human design perspective, and we look at all sorts of different aspects within your body graph to do that, along with a few insights from Ikigai. Now, if you haven't read Ikigai, you don't know about it. It's basically the finding your why from a Japanese perspective, and it is so powerful and importantly, one of the things that the Japanese consider in and I think Ikigai is about being happy but happy means you have purpose is also what will people actually pay you for, what is there an appetite for that you are uniquely positioned to help people with? So this piece like you have to understand not just who you want to be and what feels great and aligned yes, that's important but also what is there an appetite for in the world right now that you want to bring through that people will specifically believe you are credible in and pay you for. All of these things have to be considered, have to, have, to, have to have to. I can't impress this on you anymore.
Speaker 1:The reason that human design and marketing combined works for me is because I have three decades of experience in marketing. It is so ingrained in me that it is easy for me to bring through. I've been working with human design for six years and I'm a 5'1". I'm here to be a leader in this space and to bring practical solutions through to make it simpler for you to actually integrate human design into your marketing. You can't make this up. It has to be this beautiful fusion of how you're designed, what you've lived where you're most confident, what people want from you already, what they're willing to pay you for. All of these things add up to position you and accelerate your path.
Speaker 1:When you're clear. When you're clear, you need this clarity. So in Sold Out Offers by Design, the very first thing we do, with the help of Selena, the sold out office GPT robot, is quickly consider all of these things and build a famous four by design positioning statement and essence and everything in the future of the business at least in this iteration, because things change then hangs off this famous four statement. So I'm super excited that this piece has come together so powerfully. I can't even tell you the like recognition, the tears, the mind blown experience of my students, and so I am actually thinking and I'm not promising this, I am thinking of pulling just this one piece out of the program and offering it on its own as something you can invest in. That will also be a window into, you know, of course, bringing you through the full program once you've got a taste for the power of how this works. So watch out for that. I will bring more information through as it comes, but I am considering empowering you with Famous for by Design on its own at some point in the future.
Speaker 1:In the meantime, I just want you to be thinking about this, like are you clear? Do you really know what this is for you? And starting to contemplate how this could absolutely take your business to the next level. Okay, so yes, I'm in Bali the next time I record. It's highly likely I'll be in Europe, because my next stop is. It's highly likely I'll be in Europe because my next stop is well, ultimately, I'm heading to the retreat that I'm running from the 18th to the 22nd of July, so I've got a few weeks until then, and the time between now and then will be spent, some on holidays, other times doing things like prepping, like laying low and getting into the ultimate experience for my guests and making sure everything is planned down to a t, like it is in Bali right now for my guests that's arriving this afternoon.
Speaker 1:I am living my dream. At this point, it is clear that I have stepped into a new level of identity and expression in my own business and I am so lit up and so full of joy and high actually high on life, because things are just flowing and easeful and I do have more freedom than I've ever had and I'm creating a bigger impact. And these are all the things that have been made possible because I got clear on what I'm designed to be famous for the theme of this episode. So I hope you've taken something away from this.
